Animated GIFs are now more than just a moving sequence of still images; they’re considered a fun medium of expression used in social media, forums and comment threads around the web. As much as avid web surfers – specifically active social media users and forum buffs – love good animated GIFs, they also love creating their own. Some extract them from movies and TV shows, while others create something fun out of their favorite images. Beneton Movie GIF is a Windows application that meant for editing and creating GIF files. It boasts a comprehensive set of static and dynamic effects, and sports an intuitive editing workspace for creating GIFs from still images.
The application claims to support 48 image file formats. You simply insert one frame after the other (either a blank frame or an image file), apply your preferred effects and export the animation as a looped GIF sequence. The interface of the tool carries an image preview box besides a collection of effect presets to the right, which are divided into two tabs labeled Normal Effects and Animated Effects. At the bottom of the application window is the timeline of frames where you insert images. New frames can be added by clicking the Insert Frame button in the bar at the top.
BMG lets you play with a multitude of effects such as rotate, black and white, oil paint, color blend, blur, reverse, distortion, spread and more. You can apply a separate effect to each frame. Once you have selected an effect, you can further fine-tune a few parameters down the road. For instance, if you’re adding a transition effect to your animation, BMG lets you choose the effect type (fade, wipe or push) and range of frames to which you want to apply the effect. The app offers similar configuration options for other effects as well.
The final output can also be saved in a variety of ways. You can save the animation as a GIF, MNG or AVI file, as well as simply export all the selected frames in bulk as separate GIF or BMP files. You can select your preferred output method from the bar at the top.
Overall, it’s a pretty easy-to-use GIF creator that can suit the needs of both novice and advanced users. Beneton Movie GIF works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported.
