UC Browser for Windows 8

UC Browser for Windows 8/ RT When Microsoft released Windows 8 back in October 2012, it came with two versions of Internet Explorer, one is the normal desktop version and second is the metro UI based IE10 basically meant for tablets and touch screen laptops. While the IE10 did the job perfectly, users are always on the look out for new browsers. Although Google Chrome and Firefox already mentioned that they will be releasing a metro based version of the browsers, it is yet to take final shape. In the mean time UC Browser, a popular web browser for Android and Windows Phone has released their metro UI browser app for Windows 8 and RT tablets.
UC Browser is a metro UI based web browser which concentrates on speed and stable browsing, a convenient speed Dial and various search engines available. There are quite a lot of feature available when compared to metro IE10.

When you open the browser for first time, you can see shortcuts for almost all popular sites and even categorized. We felt that the UI is much more usable that IE10. Almost everything is accessible from the main screen. The tabs are arranged at the top with full visibility and you can easily switch between them. The download manager shows files downloaded and currently being downloaded.
The settings is available from the bottom menu. There is bookmarks sync feature with other devices. There is also support for Incognito mode and you can change the background wallpaper of the browser.

Features

  • Preload- The content on next page will be preloaded according to key words.
  • Save Image As- Long press an image and you can choose to save it to local.
  • Reopen Pages- If the browser crashes, you can reopen the pages you were viewing.
  • Smoother Operation- Speed optimization when opening and using Bookmarks, History, and more.
While scrolling, we found a small amount of lag on some web pages, but other than that, the browser is really good for Windows 8 users. The browser speed is really amazing and most the times, it was better than IE10 in terms of browsing speeds. As of now this is one great alternative to default IE10 for users who would like to try something new.
